The Chicago Jaguar X Type line up is about to get a bit shaken up.  The new XKR is said to be one fast ride!  Of course, we would expect nothing less out of a Jag.

The Geneva Motor Show, which runs March 4th through the 14th, previews a lot of excellent cars, wagons, SUV’s and the like.  The newest Chicago XK, the XKR, will be one of these.   What makes this sporty car really cool is the Speed Pack that enables the car to fly by.  How fast, might you ask?  The speedometer on this bad boy can reach 174 mph.  WOW!  It is able to get that high due to the reconfiguring of the transmission and engine controls.  Thanks to modern technology allowing our cars to really move!

The Black Pack is an extra add on to the owner who has the Speed Pack, but also wants the interior and exterior of her Chicago Jaguar X Type to look as great as possible.  With this package, alloy wheels that are 20 inches will be put on the XKR.  The black trimming around the front grilles and windows will really make the Chicago XK stand out.  If you want to further add a little something special, the XKR logo can be added to the door sills.  Inside the cabin, the Black Pack gives the Jag leather stitching in a variety of colors.  It also trims the material with charcoal leather hides.  Sounds very luxurious!

Engine wise, the XKR comes with a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 with 510 hp.  The fuel system is a GDI (Gasoline Direct Injected).  This allows the car to obtain its maximum power.  The GDI is starting to show up more and more in various car makes and models.  The XKR does provide an amazing drive.  The 510 HP allows the driver to go from stand still to speeding in a matter of seconds!

Successful business partnerships in tough economic times is a not an easy feat.  That’s why Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics renewed their contract with Jaguar.  They are going to be shipping around 45,000 Jaguar (and Land Rover) vehicles out of their port in Southampton.

These vehicles, including the Chicago XF, will be shipped to North America, Australia, and New Zealand.  This is a good thing because the port in Southampton mainly handles the Three C’s:  Cars, Cruises, and container Businesses.  In an economy where people have scaled back on luxury cars, the Car has been affected, lowering car business around 33%.  Let’s hope the partnership renewed will result in more income for WWL.

With all the interior features and comfort found in this model, you could practically live in your XF!   The front seats are very comfy and provide good support, perfect for my upcoming road trip out east!   The stereo system pumps out 440 watts of great sounding music.  A feature that my friend’s used cars Jaguar could use a bit of upgrading on.  There’s also that high tech driving mode knob that rises out of the center console when you turn in on!

Tata Motors, the company who makes Jaguar vehicles, is moving forward with their decision to use aluminum in all future Chicago XF and other Jaguar vehicles.  Currently, aluminum is the metal of choice in the XK and XJ models.

Aluminum is a very sturdy metal that is a good choice for a luxury car who’s power is important to the owner.  It makes the Chicago Jaguar X Type more lightweight.  A car that’s a bit lighter on it’s feet makes for a faster ride.  In addition, lightweight aluminum helps the car obtain better handling and improves fuel consumption.  These are very positive effects of aluminum.

Jaguar is teaming up with entertainer Jay-Z to promote the new Chicago Jaguar XJ 2011 model that is scheduled to go on sale in April.  What the company is doing is putting the 2011 XJ in his new video for “On To The Next One” and Jay-Z will also make some appearances throughout 2010 to promote this luxury vehicle. Jaguar has chosen Jay-Z because they are impressed with the career he has made in music, fashion, business and sports!

So, why does this entertainer love this car so much?  There are plenty of reasons why and I am excited to share a few with you!

With every new model for each year, one area that does not change is the overall sophistication and luxuriousness of this auto (even when compared to other Chicago used Jaguar models).  Inside the XJ are new leather trim and upgraded leather seats.  Also found inside is a leather headliner and the gauge lighting with a soft red hue.  The revised interior gives a modern look.

The 2011 Jaguar Chicago XJ line will come in several different trim and model options.  Here is there breakdown:

• 4-Door Sedan XJ  Trim:    comes in 3 options: 4 door sedan XJ, the XJ supercharged, and XJ Supersport
• 4- Door Sedan XJL Trim:  comes in the 4 door sedan XJL, the XJL Supercharged and XJL Supersport

All of these options will come with a V-8 engine, but will differ in powertrains. The Supersport having more power than the XJ or XJL base models, and the Supersport having more than the Supersport.  They can each seat 5 passengers and come with 4 doors and rear wheel drive.

Since this vehicle is coming out in April for the 2011 car season, test drives and reviews are still being conducted.  Jaguar has the reputation for producting quality and luxury cars that are powerful, and the 2011 Chicago Jaguar XJ should be no different!…Heck, Jay-Z likes it and he can afford pretty much any car he wants!

The Chicago XF  and XFR models have received some special awards. Automobile magazine has, for the 2nd straight year, named the 2010 Jaguar XF All Star of the Year. This is truly a great honor. One area the XF and XFR models rank high in is Performance and here are a few reasons why.  Just to clarify, the XF is the “base model” and the XFR is the supercharged step up that provides an outstanding Hp of 510.  The XF has a V8 engine and the XFR has the “supercharged” V8.  They both drive so great, writing about they makes me wish I had one parked in my driveway, but anyways, back to reality!   These Chicago XF  models can weave in and out of traffic, handle curves, and glide smooth and evenly on the highway. 

Interior wise, like some other used cars Jaguar, they are beautiful, as though you’d expect anything less from this auto company.  There a lot of “bells and whistles” inside the cabin.   My personal favorite is the knob in the center of the console that rises up, replacing the traditional gear lever.  Also, many of the audio and climate controls are done via touch screens, but the controls on the steering wheel help with the convenience for the driver.  The driver and front passenger seats are very comfortable, with arm rests, which get a big thumbs up from me!

When you drive up to a dealership’s lot and see the Chicago Jaguar XF waiting for you, there are some features that you will notice.  Even though the XF/XFR are sedans, they have a coupe-like look to them.  The design is more modern and sleek, as compared to other used cars Jaguar options.   A bit of a change from the typical Jaguar look.  The front grille takes on a square shape and the headlights have a wide shape.
