The 2011 Car Year is going to be exciting.  Companies across the board are promising exciting new models, as well as updates to current ones.  Jaguar is no exception to this.  One of their most prominent models, the 2011 Chicago Jaguar XJ, is new and has so much to offer! 

The last update to the XJ was back in 2004, so we’re definitely ready for some new eye-candy.  The new XJ has a more modern design and hopes to appeal to all different driving  personalities.  In the past, the design of the XJ was thought of as being very “old-fashioned” and “Conservative”.  Jaguar, now under the ownership of Tata Motors, is trying to shed these stereotypes.  The exterior design on this new Jaguar Chicago is focused on offering a more aerodynamic model.  You see this in the sloping roof-line and side panels.  Even in its more modern design, it still has that tell tale Jaguar design.

The 2011 XJ also offers features that make it a high performing sedan.  You can opt for a base XJ, Supercharged, or a Supersport option.  The first of the lineup offers a 5.0 Liter, V8 that pumps out 385 horsepower.  If you opt for the more powerful supercharged, this cat provides an awesome 470 Horsepower.  If you really want to wow family and friends, the special order supersport gives you an amazing 510 horsepower.  The Horsepower is provided the engine that is naturally aspirated!

The 2011 Chicago Jaguar XJ also drives and handles very well.  Even though it’s heavier weight wise versus the old model, it’s chassis design helps it feel lightweight when you’re on the open roads.  It really steers and takes corners and arcs very well.  These are certainly great qualities for a larger sedan to have.  The base XJ is able to go from zero to 60 in 5.4 seconds.  The supercharged takes 4.9 seconds and the supersport can quickly take you to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.  Now that is fast!

Jaguars are amazing cars, there’s no doubt about that.  When I think of one, I associate it with someone who’s successful, likes to show it, and is a bit more conservative all around.  In fact, when I was growing up my neighbor down the street was a doctor and he drove one.   Case in point, I guess!

It’s been almost 30 years since my neighbor came cruising down the street, and people I’ve spoken with still have the same association or mental picture in their mind of someone who would drive a used for sale Jaguar.  Things are changing though, and we can see this with new 2011 XJ.

The 2011 XJ is new, sportier, and Jaguar is hoping that it will appeal to many different generations.  In fact, they’ve put the XJ on TV ads and billboards throughout the US in hopes of attracting more urban, sophisticated car buyers into their Chicago Jaguar S Type dealership to take a look.

The XJ is certainly worth a test drive.  For starters, you can opt for a “regular” XJ or a supercharged version.  A base XJ provides a 5.0-liter V-8 that provides a whopping 385 horsepower.  Stepping up to the supercharged version will give you 470 horsepower and allow it to go from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds.  That’s proof there’s a sports car like quality to this amazing car!

The newest XJ still has the high quality interior design that Jaguar lovers recognize and expect.  The seats are made of high quality leather and have accents that make it stand out.  The dashboard is make of fine wood and the gauges are laid out in a quality manner.  In fact, the gauges are digital and can go away or change display information by simply pressing a button.

One look at the 2011 XJ next to a previously designed used for sale Jaguar and I can see the work that Jaguar has done to make this more appealing to drivers off all different ages, genders, and backgrounds!  Its sportier, more modern design makes me wanna drive one too!

It’s not hard to see that the design of this classic Jaguar model from the 1950′s looks a bit different than the Chicago XF of today. Keep in mind that every car gets their start somewhere.  Taking a look at older models brings a bit of nostalgia for those who remember that era and all that comes with it!

We’re taking a look at the 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC Royal.  Before it was transformed into a custom model, it participated in six racing events.  The person responsible for working on this classic beauty is Joe Wilhelm.  He chopped the top, made a hand designed grille, and added a windscreen that’s one-piece.  The front lights and bumpers also carry a design that make it look nostalgic.

Under the hood, the engine was rebuilt by an employee of Paxton who wanted to experiment with supercharging.  Hence, the Chicago Jaguar X type of today can be found in supercharged editions that really get your heart pumping!  The 1950′s edition has under 7,000 miles and comes in the beautiful purple hue seen in the photo.  I love it, but certainly a matter of opinion!

Another feature that I noticed when I clicked on an interior shot of the steering wheel and control panels was the material used.  Like the Chicago XF of today, the wheel is made of quality wood, as well as the dashboard and control panel.  Using high quality materials is an area Jaguar felt was important then and now!

Now, picture a 2010 Chicago Jaguar X Type with all of its technology, engine power, and beautifully crafted interior and you realize how far Jags have come over the past 55 years or so.  The 1955 XK 140 is a perfect fit for someone who’s into classic cars and can afford to buy a piece of history!

If you watch TV at all, and let’s be honest, we all do, then you’ve probably seen the many Jaguar commercials on lately.  Well, that is beause the 2011 Jaguar XJ hit dealerships around the world this month.  Hand it to Jaguar for trying to get viewers psyched about something new, and believe me, it’s new.

Like the Chicago XF, the 2011 XJ has luxurious features, inside and out.  The design of the 2011 model has been updated a bit, as compared to some designs that are more outdated and stuffy.  However, if you prefer the elegance found in the former design language, check out a Chicago used Jaguar at Patrick Jaguar.

Some photos don’t adequately show the new XJ, but one I saw showed a sportier, sexier if you will, sedan.  There is a new aero-kit, a new fender with more vents, and more LED lighting.  The XJ also gets 21 inch wheels and new exhaust tips to help spice up it’s exterior body.

Inside the car, you still get all the poshness you rely on from Jaguar.  The cabin design is said to produce a maritime atmosphere.  The leather used on the seats is “riverboat” design and the veneer  like what’s found in yachts.  I picture beige leather and dark wood throughout, but will you really feel like you’re in a boat?  You’d probably have to get in one and see what you think!

The newest XJ can carry 5 passengers and is a four-door sedan, much like the XF, one of Jaguar’s top selling models.  The engine found in this fast cat is a V8 that can go from zero to sixty in about 5 seconds.  It comes in a regular V8 and a supercharged V8 and provides direct fuel injection for optimal performance.  The V8 produces 380 lb-ft of torque and the supercharged does 424–461 lb-ft.  How’s that for a powerful sedan!

Jaguar has spiced up the XJ in the hopes to increases sales 50%. The luxury car market has taken a bit of a dive with the troubled economy.  Jaguar is a spectacular line that I hope gets a little steadier on it’s feet in the next year.
