The new jaguar in Chicago in question is rumored to be an extreme version of an already-potent 2010 XKR coupe sporting the brand’s 510-hp supercharged 5.0L AJ-V8 with a few alterations on hand. A couple of the features will include a throatier exhaust system and a similarly intimidating front fascia with a new satin graphite grille.

“The car is called the Goodwood Special XKR, and has been designed to explore the harder side of the XKR’s character, and explore some of the performance boundaries,” said Jaguar’s head engineer Mike Cross to Piston Heads.

Let me be one of the first to say that I would do whatever it took to get behind the wheel of a new Jag, especially one as striking as the 2010 Jaguar XF Premium sedan. If you’ve driven a Jaguar XF sedan once, be it the base XF, the tested XF Premium, or the exotic XFR, you’ll gladly drive one again.

The trick for luxury brand Jaguar, and its many rivals, is to heed government pressure to maximize fuel efficiency without weakening their base characteristics.

When referring to the rear-wheel-drive XF Premium, its apparent Jaguar’s designers tried to deliver more fuel economy, without sacrificing beauty, power and speed. The XF Premium comes with a new 5-liter, 385-horsepower V-8 engine to satisfy motorists craving power.

The car is a timeless piece of artwork on wheels, a luxury car that maneuvers toward honoring practicality while maintaining its aesthetic appeal and menacing charm.

2010 XF Premium

Engine, transmission: The XF Premium comes with a 5-liter, 32-valve, direct-injection V-8 engine that develops 385 horsepower at 6,500 revolutions per minute. Safety: includes four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with anti-lock control; front and rear seat belts that automatically tighten and hold buckled occupants close to seats in a crash. Price: The base price on the Jaguar XF Premium is $56,150. Dealer’s invoice price is $51,097.

The Chicago Jaguar XF series, Jaguar XJ series Chicago, and Jaguar XK series Chicago models are manufactured at the company’s Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham.

Going up against the Boxster, Audi TT and the BMW Z4 would be intimidating if your company wasn’t named Jaguar. But Jaguar, ever-proficient at emerging designs and impeccable engineering, has got it all under control with the C-Type. Chicago Jaguar dealers are excited to be in direct competition with such models, and believe that Jaguar has come up with a roadster that will hold its own.

Deriving its handling and driving abilities from the Jaguar XK, this new C-Type will have no problem impressing. One of the most sought-after Jaguars ever, the XK lent its driving features to this new model in order to up the ante.  Available with either a V6 or V8 engine and 235 hp or 380 hp respectively, this roadster will be fun to drive and potently powerful. And with a 0-60 time of 5 seconds, Chicago Jaguar dealers say that this is the most powerful Jaguar yet for its size.

With its body styling based off of the current XF sedan, the new C-Type has taken some of the best elements from many Jaguars. The aluminum body and canvas top will surely help give this little two-seat speedster a boost above the competition, and features such as LED headlamps, thin tail lamps, steering wheel mounted paddles, and mesh grille will make it presence fierce and daunting on the road and in the showroom.

Though it won’t be seen at my nearby Chicago Jaguar dealership for a while, this new model is without a doubt something to get excited about. Combining the best of XF and XK designs and performance, this new cat will be sure to hiss at the competition as it claws up the roadways.

I’m looking forward to seeing a Chicago Jaguar XJ at a Chicago Jaguar dealership.  What Jag did with the XF was amazing, and the XK and XJ are now on similar tracks of design language.  It was tough to keep Jaguar’s unique panache while updating their models’ forms.  But so far so good.  I expect the XJ to be another artistic success.

We now have a teaser photo and video of the 2010 Jaguar XJ, which is scheduled to arrive at your local Chicago Jaguar dealership in late 2009 and be unveiled in London in July.  We’ll get every last detail about this auto after the London premier, but for now these teaser shots and news of excellent engine options is exciting enough.

Doesn’t that panoramic glass roof look inviting?  Judging by the luxuriously powerful experience I had test driving the new XF, I can only image what my delight will be when I pull out of a Chicago Jaguar dealership in the 2010 XJ.

Head Jaguar design honcho Ian Callum said the 2010 XJ will be a total reinvention of what a Jaguar flagship should be.  In the video you can see that the front end has clearly gone the way of the XF, and the curves of the 2010 XJ look to be a real departure from the current stand-up-straight XJ sedan.

The 2010 XJ will have short and long wheelbase versions.  Engine options will include the 503-horsepower supercharged, direct-injection 5.0-liter V-8, which we’ve seen on the XFR and XKR.  However, Jag says that for the XJ, the “R” tag will be saved for an even higher performance engine.  So far they haven’t given any clues as to the details of that under-the-hood behemoth, though.

I will be glad to see the new XJ.  Having spent time at the local Jaguar XJ Series Chicago dealer, the current model has never impressed me.  I think Jag stands to gain a much broader consumer appeal with the sweeping style updates, much like we saw with the XF.

The XJ should impress high-end luxury buyers with an array of high-tech features that come in a very stylish ride.  The JaguarDrive gear selector that was introduced in the new XF will make its way into the 2010 XJ.  And the XJ will additionally boast paddle shifters to operate the 6-speed automatic.  There is also rumored to be an extended-range plug-in hybrid on the horizon that will enter into the dedicated luxury hybrid fray.

The 2010 XJ will arrive at my Chicago Jaguar dealership in December, which will make for a nice Christmas present test drive.  It goes without saying that if you’re looking to buy new Jaguar in Chicago soon, the 2010 XJ will be on your short list.

The new Jaguar XKR is an immediately striking Jaguar that can really move.  Able to go 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds, a driver can experience the thrill of accelerating in this cat in either coupe or convertible.

The all-aluminum XKR gets fast in a quick way because of its light body weight and an all-new 5.0-liter V-8 engine that purrs out 510 horsepower.  Though I’ve seen and sat inside a 2009 XKR at a Jaguar dealer in Chicago, I’ve never had the opportunity to drive one.  So I think I’ll wait until one of these arrives at the nearby Chicago Jaguar dealership, and I’ll do my best to get the keys for a half hour.

The only transmission option is a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters, which might worry some of you with manual or dual-clutch options on your mind.  But from what I know of previous Jaguars with this set up, I’m pretty sure once you get behind the wheel, you won’t think about having it any other way.

Talking with the people at the Patrick Chicago Jaguar dealership, I learned that the design team at Jaguar has improved the interior considerably.  Door casings now feature saddle-stitched lines and more plush trim.  Plus there will be more interior color options, soft-grain leather and chrome highlights for 2010.

On the outside, the front takes on a newly designed bumper and a new, closer-to-the-road mesh grille.  Chrome detailing now compliments the side windows, and the car goes with updates in the way of a new rear spoiler and side vents.

On the convertible, the folding roof powers up or down in about 20 seconds at the push of a button. When going top-down, the convertible’s roof retracts wholly into the bodywork behind the rear seats, making sure the sleek style that makes the car a Jaguar remains.  Safety-wise, a hidden roll-over protection system deploys immediately in the event of a roll-over situation.

I usually try to mention the greenness of a car when I write about it.  While the XKR may not be a car for the most adherent environmentalists, it does take steps at reducing CO2 emmissions.  Noteably, the new XKR features an engine designed to reduce internal friction, which in turn increases fuel efficiency and decreased emissions.  Jaguar says all engine bearings were engineered for lower friction.  Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating has been used to reduce friction on the fuel pump tappets and a solid film lubricant has been used to coat the piston skirts.  DLC, if you don’t know (I had to look it up) is the same material used to reduce friction in racecar engines.  The car remains a performance auto, but these efforts are a step in the right direction for helping to create a cleaner environment.
