Jaguar is a staple of auto elegance.  From the newest XJ model to a used for sale Jaguar found at your local dealership, this line up of luxurious autos simply cannot be beat.  2010 marks the 75th year that the car brand has been around to wow us.  Let’s take a look at the past and present of Jaguars.

The first Jaguar came to us back in 1935 and was known as the SS 100, certainly a different sound to it than the Chicago X type that is around today.  The Jag moniker was chosen by Sir William Lyons who founded Swallow Sidecars in 1922.  He wanted to market his SS sidecars that he created in the 1920′s and early 30′s and he chose the Jaguar name that started a long line up of quality autos.

From that 1935 SS 100, more Jaguar models came into play.  In the late ’40′s the XK 120 was manufactured and the 1950′s offered the C Type and D Type that were made for racing!  The 1960′s was a marked decade for Jaguar.  This is when the E-type was born, and it gave way to a long generation of sporty cars.  In addition to these, Jaguar has designed some sedans, such as the Mark II that was sold in the early 60′s and the XJ lineup that is very popular today!

Jaguars have commonly been thought of as cars that are for the wealthy and conservative only.  Jaguar has been trying to revamp the Chicago X Type line up and make it more appealing to drivers of all different demographics.  In 2008 they released the XF that drives like a sports car and outwards resembles a coupe.  Maybe not a Jag your grandfather would choose?! Moreover, the XJ has been redesigned to make it much more exciting.

In the world of Jaguar, it’s easy to get lost in the coupling of letters:  XF, XJ, and XK….So many choices and so many similarities and differences that makes each model perfect for the right owner.   One option that is an amazing choice for so many reasons is the 2010 Jaguar XFR.   Let’s find out why.

The XFR is a supercharged version of a XF Supercharged, so we’re talking the creme brulee in the lineup of XF models.  When you get behind the wheel of this car, you slip into a world that is unlike other used for sale Jaguar cars I have driven in the past.   First of all, the XFR has that “watch out for the quiet one” feel to it.  The car is tame and can take the route like any other in day to day driving to work, shopping, etc, but when you have a chance to get this bad boy going, watch out!

This Chicago X Type option has a V-8 engine this is simply fantastic.  It’s direct injected and supercharged, giving off 510 HP and 461 pound-feet of torque.  To add to that, the XFR set in sport mode will allow you to get all you can out of the horsepower by allowing the gear you have it set in to reach it’s maximum potential.  To tame your XFR down in heavier traffic, having it set in Drive mode is a better option: you’ll be able to downshift it without delay.  As we know too well, bumper to bumper traffic can instantly open up, then slow down again quickly, making your gear shift do a little more work than it might want to.  Luckily the XFR is a sedan that can handle the pressure!

In addition, a feature that I really like is the subtle sporty look the exterior has.  Compared to other used for sale Jaguar cars that have sometimes been criticized for looking too “aristocrat”, “conservative”, and “old-fashioned”, the 2010 XFR has a sleek, updated look to it.

Jaguars are amazing cars, there’s no doubt about that.  When I think of one, I associate it with someone who’s successful, likes to show it, and is a bit more conservative all around.  In fact, when I was growing up my neighbor down the street was a doctor and he drove one.   Case in point, I guess!

The newest XJ still has the high quality interior design that Jaguar lovers recognize and expect.  The seats are made of high quality leather and have accents that make it stand out.  The dashboard is make of fine wood and the gauges are laid out in a quality manner.  In fact, the gauges are digital and can go away or change display information by simply pressing a button.

One look at the 2011 XJ next to a previously designed used for sale Jaguar and I can see the work that Jaguar has done to make this more appealing to drivers off all different ages, genders, and backgrounds!  Its sportier, more modern design makes me wanna drive one too!
