Jaguar has unveiled a U.K. “police pursuit vehicle” that would offer police forces in Great Britain an ultimate machine for tracking down criminals. And it’s really good looking, too.
The XF Diesel S made for police across the pond is propelled by a 271-hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo that can make 0-60-mph under six seconds. In addition to acting as a performance vehicle for law enforcement, it saves them fuel as well, getting 42 mpg.
This model is set to run on diesel rather than gasoline, in case you missed that part and were wondering why those mpgs were so high on this police model. Jag has some great diesel technology, though, and it sounds like this XF is a real performer. If high-speed police chases weren’t exciting enough already, image the thrill added by this cat chasing down delinquents.
So far no British forces have added one of these fast cats to their fleets, but you can bet there will be a line to drive them when they begin to. The XF actually makes a lot of sense for police. It is a supreme performance vehicle that would lend itself to high-speed pursuits, and while on less exciting police work, drivers would be getting excellent fuel efficiency.
You may remember my Jaguar XF Chicago test drive a couple of months ago. I think I can speak for officers everywhere when I say it would make an amazing ride for boys in blue over here in the U.S.
I love the XF. I might even enjoy being pulled over in one of these, if the officer let me look at it (through preferably not from the back seat).
On another note, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Jaguar XF Chicago diesel version.
