The Jaguar XJ series Chicago sedan will introduce a new generation of safer and more prudent engines, giving fuel economy ranges of up to 40 miles a gallon, and its lightweight body is made from 50% recycled aluminum. Upcoming models will incorporate Jaguar’s “green” hybrid technology currently being developed. It will provide a six speed automatic gearbox, reach 0-60 MPH in less than five seconds, and be artificially limited to reach a top speed of 155 MPH.

What has not been made clear is whether an electric XE would come in place of, or compounding to, the XJ range-extended electric car Jaguar has planned for 2011. While emitting roughly as much CO2 as the Honda Civic Hybrid, this car would have a fuel efficiency of 57 MPG.
