Picture this: You’re driving your car along the open road. It’s a beautiful day, but it’s a warm one. And the sun is coming through the windows in a way that makes your leather seat begin to feel a tad warm. You shift uncomfortably. Sure, you have the air conditioner on, but  you can feel perspiration beginning to form on your uncooled back. The problem is you’re not driving a 2010 Jaguar XK. Don’t feel bad. Nobody is driving one yet. But when the XK reaches the Jaguar dealer in Chicago this summer, who wouldn’t want to take one for a spin? Amerigon announced that its Climate Control Seat system will be installed in the front seats in the new 2010 Jaguar XK-Series sport coupe and convertible.

Thankfully Jaguar has realized that the Jaguar XK series Chicago needs more comfort for the summer. And I think these seats will do the trick. Yes, I can see myself in the 2010 XK cruising down Lake Shore Drive. I definitely will pick the hottest day this summer to go climb into one of these. Then if they can ever pry me out of the glorious cooled environment, I’ll tell you about it here. Of course I’m interested in the cooling aspect, but the system also offers warmth, which should come in handy during the 10 months in Chicago that are not summer.

The system is apparently  independent of the car’s heating and air conditioning system and does not reduce power available to the engine, which is a good aspect allowing drivers to maintain the ambient temperature but crank up the seat’s cooling power if they wish. Now with all that said about the CCS, the 2010 XK series models are going to be very impressive. I’ll do a more extensive preview of the new XKs in the coming posts, but for now I thought I would leave you with a little teaser:
